🚨 Texas Governor Greg Abbott Fires Back at “Fleeing” New Yorkers — Issues a 100% “Tariff” Warning to Liberal Transplants 🇺🇸🔥

Austin, Texas — Governor Greg Abbott isn’t mincing words when it comes to the flood of New Yorkers heading south.
Just hours after polls closed in New York City’s mayoral election, Abbott fired off a tongue-in-cheek warning that instantly went viral:

“Effective immediately, a 100% tariff will be imposed on any New Yorker moving to Texas,” he joked on social media — followed by a Texas flag emoji and a firm reminder that “freedom isn’t free.”

While the “tariff” comment was clearly humorous, the message behind it wasn’t. Abbott’s post was a pointed rebuke of what he calls “the failed progressive policies” that have driven thousands of New Yorkers to flee high taxes, rampant crime, and economic decline for the promise of Texas prosperity.

🗽 From Empire State to Lone Star

Over the past few years, New York has seen an unprecedented exodus of residents, many of whom have landed in red states like Texas and Florida.
Census data shows that hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers have relocated since 2020, often citing cost of living, over-regulation, and public safety as key reasons for leaving.

Abbott has welcomed many of them — but he’s made it clear that Texas’s success didn’t happen by accident.

“Texas thrives because we protect liberty, not bureaucracy,” he said earlier this year.
“We don’t want people bringing the same bad ideas that made them leave their home states in the first place.”

🤠 Texas Model vs. Blue-State Chaos

Abbott’s jab comes amid rising tension between red-state and blue-state leaders over migration and governance.
While New York’s progressives continue to double down on high-tax, high-spending policies, Texas has doubled down on low taxes, energy independence, and law-and-order governance — an approach Abbott calls “freedom through responsibility.”

Texas’s population boom, record job creation, and strong economic recovery post-pandemic have become proof points in the growing ideological divide between the two Americas.

“We’re not perfect,” Abbott said recently, “but Texas works — and we plan to keep it that way.”

His administration has often contrasted the Lone Star State’s growth with what conservatives describe as New York’s “urban decline” — where rising crime and shrinking budgets have become campaign issues for every major mayoral candidate.

💬 Social Media Explodes

Abbott’s playful “tariff” post lit up social media within minutes, sparking fierce debate between supporters and critics alike.
Texans applauded the governor’s humor and his tough-love stance toward newcomers, while progressives called the remark “divisive.”

One user wrote,

“Governor Abbott said what every Texan is thinking — we welcome people, not policies.”

Another added,

“We moved here for freedom, not to repeat New York’s mistakes.”

Even conservative commentators in Florida and Tennessee chimed in, echoing Abbott’s sentiment that “red states are safe havens — but not dumping grounds.”

🔔 Abbott’s Larger Message

Behind the humor lies a broader political statement: Texas’s conservative leadership plans to defend its values even as population growth transforms the state.
Abbott has warned that demographic changes could invite cultural and political shifts that threaten Texas’s identity as a beacon of freedom and enterprise.

His administration’s mantra — “Don’t California my Texas” — has now expanded into a national slogan:

“Don’t New York my Texas.”

For Abbott, the principle is simple.
If liberal policies broke your home state, don’t bring them to ours.

🏁 Final Thought

Texas’s message to America remains loud and clear: freedom, faith, and opportunity still matter — and they come with responsibility.
While Governor Abbott’s “100% tariff” joke drew laughs, the sentiment behind it resonated deeply across the Lone Star State.

Because in Texas, borders may be open to people — but never to policies that don’t work.
