Latest update on Will Roberts: Will, our brave 14-year-old, is currently in the hospital for his longest stay yet after his body reached toxicity from months of chemotherapy.

Ralph, Alabama — A local teen battling stage 4 bone cancer is currently in the hospital for his longest stay yet, as doctors work to stabilize his condition after months of intensive treatment. Fourteen‑year‑old Will Roberts has been undergoing chemotherapy and surgeries, including a complex amputation and attachment procedure at MD Anderson in Houston to allow him to wear a prosthetic.

Recently, however, Will’s body reached toxicity levels from chemotherapy, placing his heart and kidneys at risk. As a result, doctors made the difficult decision to pause his latest chemo dose and monitor him closely while the medication drains from his system. This marks a worrying but necessary step to protect vital organs before treatment can resume.

Will’s family says they are hopeful and grateful for the care he is receiving. “We fully trust our healthcare providers,” said his mother, Brittney Roberts. “His body just needed a break after so many rounds of treatment.” Though missing a scheduled chemo dose is frightening given the aggressive nature of osteosarcoma, the pause is considered vital for his safety.

The extended hospital stay has been challenging, but brighter moments have emerged. Friends and classmates have visited Will, bringing encouragement, laughter, and support that has lifted his spirits. Daily cards, messages, and acts of kindness from the community have surrounded the Roberts family with love during an otherwise difficult time.

While doctors prepare for the next phase of Will’s care, including fluids to protect his kidneys at home, the family is asking the public to keep him in their thoughts and prayers. Supporters continue to rally around Will, offering strength and hope as he and his family walk this long journey.

Will’s story shines a light on the courage and resilience of children facing life‑threatening illness and the powerful impact of community support in moments of uncertainty and fear.
