.THE MIRACLE IN THE MAKING: Amarillo’s Prayer for Sam Saied

Uncategorized Article

AMARILLO, TX — They say Texas is built on three things: faith, family, and the refusal to back down from a fight. This week, those pillars are being tested in a way no 15-year-old should ever have to endure.

His name is Sam Saied, and just weeks ago, his biggest concern was a “stubborn sinus infection.” But on February 11, the world for the Saied family shifted on its axis. What doctors first thought was a routine ailment was revealed to be Stage 4 Rhabdomyosarcoma—a rare, aggressive cancer that doesn’t play by the rules.

Since that diagnosis, the news has been heavy. The cancer in his sinus cavity had already begun a silent march into his brain cavity and his bones. During his very first surgery, doctors had to remove part of Sam’s skull just to stop a brain bleed.

The image of Sam in his hospital bed—wires draped like spiderwebs, machines providing a constant, mechanical hum, and a stuffed animal standing a silent, brave guard—is enough to break any heart. But if you look closer, you see a warrior who isn’t finished yet.

To know Sam is to know the “Angel of Amarillo.” He isn’t just a patient in a room; he is a 15-year-old with a life that deserves a hundred more chapters.

  • The Athlete: He loves the beautiful game of soccer, bringing that same “DAWG” mentality to the pitch that we admire in our sports heroes.

  • The Voice: He sings like an angel—recognized as one of the best voices in Texas.

  • The Servant: He is a familiar, humble face at St. Thomas Church in Amarillo, serving his community with a smile that could light up a stadium.

  • The Little Brother: Adored by his two older brothers and the absolute pride of his parents, Mark and Danielle.

A “Texas-Sized” Rally

The Saied family is now staring down a road that feels endless. The commute between Amarillo and Lubbock, the missed work, the mounting medical bills—it is a weight that would crush most. But this is Texas. And in Texas, we don’t let our neighbors carry the load alone.

Since the news broke, the community has begun to circle the wagons. A GoFundMe organized by Erin Hutson has already raised over $42,000 of its $100,000 goal, but the need for “Big Prayers” is even greater than the need for dollars.

“Sam is a light,” one family friend shared. “And right now, that light needs our fuel. We aren’t just hoping for a recovery; we are praying for a miracle.”

What Do You Tell a Warrior?

If we could speak to Sam and his family today, the message would be simple: The huddle is full. To Mark and Danielle: Your endurance is superhuman, but you don’t have to be strong every second. Let the community hold you up when your knees get weak. To Sam: You have the heart of a lion and the prayers of a state behind you. Keep singing. Keep fighting. Keep believing that the “brighter days” aren’t just coming—they are being fought for right now.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

The Saied family needs more than just sympathy; they need a movement.

Picture background

  1. Pray Big: Whether it’s at St. Thomas or in the quiet of your own home, say Sam’s name today.

  2. Give if You Can: Every dollar to their GoFundMe is a gallon of gas for the trip to Lubbock or a meal for a family in the trenches.

  3. Share the Story: Don’t let Sam’s fight happen in the dark. Let the world know that Amarillo stands with Sam.

Miracles don’t just happen in the Bible; they happen in hospital rooms in Lubbock when a community refuses to give up.

Sam, the Kingdom is with you. Texas is with you. Fight on. 🤍💪
