Remembering the Brave: A Tribute to Four Soldiers…

In Honor of the Fallen: A Tribute to Our Heroes

In the quiet streets of Winter Haven, Florida, there lived a man who understood the weight of duty and honor.
Captain Cody A. Khork, a 35-year-old military officer, had always believed in the values of sacrifice and service.

Raised in a small town, he was a boy who dreamt of something greater than the ordinary life that most people lead. He didn’t just want to live; he wanted to make a difference. And in the wake of his tragic death, his community would forever remember him as a man who did just that.

It was in Winter Haven that Cody’s love for his country and its principles first took root.

From an early age, he was taught the importance of integrity, hard work, and selflessness. His parents, modest and humble, were proud of his achievements but never expected him to give so much of himself.

When Cody enlisted in the Army, it was with the intention of becoming a force for good, of serving his country with everything he had.

On the morning of March 1, 2024, Captain Cody A. Khork made the ultimate sacrifice.
Alongside three fellow soldiers, he lost his life in an unmanned aircraft system attack in Kuwait. They were part of a mission that no one could have foreseen would end in such tragedy.

In Bellevue, Nebraska, Sergeant 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, at the age of 42, had already experienced much of what the world had to offer.

He had served his country with dedication and unwavering loyalty for nearly two decades. His career in the Army had taken him to many places—some of them dangerous, some of them heartwarming.
Yet, in all of his travels and deployments, Noah never stopped thinking about his family.

Noah had always been a family man.
He loved his wife, his children, and his community, and he often said that everything he did was for them. The people in Bellevue admired him for his humility and his strong sense of duty.

They knew that Noah wasn’t just a soldier; he was a protector, a leader, and a friend. He was the kind of person who would give everything for the well-being of others. And so, when the call came, he answered without hesitation.

Sergeant 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens gave his life in service to his country, but it was his commitment to the people he loved that made him a hero.

Over in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, Sergeant 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, a 39-year-old mother of two, also chose to serve her country.
She had always felt a deep sense of responsibility to others, and that sense of duty led her to enlist in the Army. Nicole’s journey wasn’t easy.

It was filled with long hours of training, moments of doubt, and times when the weight of the world seemed unbearable. But through it all, Nicole held onto her purpose.

Her children were the light of her life, and she often talked about them to her fellow soldiers, showing pictures of their laughter-filled moments and proud accomplishments.
Nicole dreamed of the day when she would come home and be reunited with her family. But on March 1, her dream was shattered.

Nicole’s sacrifice was not just for her country—it was for her children, for her community, and for every single person she had ever encountered.
Her legacy would live on in the stories of the people she touched.

Sgt. Declan J. Coady, at only 20 years old, was the youngest of the fallen soldiers.

From West Des Moines, Iowa, Declan had always been a bright and determined young man. Though he was still in the early stages of his military career, he already demonstrated the leadership and courage of someone far beyond his years.

Declan’s heart had always been in the right place. He was determined to do whatever it took to protect the country he loved and the people he cared about.

Declan had dreams of pursuing higher education after his service and possibly starting a family of his own.
He spoke often of his plans for the future, but he also understood that the present was just as important.

When the call came for him to serve in Kuwait, Declan did not hesitate. He was part of the 103rd Sustainment Command, based in Des Moines, Iowa, and his fellow soldiers regarded him as a strong and dependable leader.

The loss of Declan was felt deeply in West Des Moines.
The town had watched him grow from a wide-eyed teenager into a capable and committed soldier.

His community rallied behind his family, offering support in every way they could. Declan may have been young, but his impact was immeasurable.

On that fateful day, March 1, 2024, four lives were lost, but the legacy of each one of these brave soldiers lives on.
They made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom and safety of others.

They died so that the rest of us might continue to live in peace. The Pentagon confirmed their identities: Captain Cody A. Khork, Sergeant 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, Sergeant 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, and Sergeant Declan J. Coady.

They were all part of the 103rd Sustainment Command, stationed in Des Moines, Iowa, and each one of them will forever be remembered as a hero.

Their families now carry the weight of their loss, but they also carry the pride of knowing that their loved ones gave everything for something greater than themselves.
These soldiers are not just names on a list—they are fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters, each with their own stories, dreams, and aspirations.

As the days pass and the world continues on, the memory of their sacrifice remains fresh in the minds of those who knew them.

The world may never fully comprehend the depth of their courage, but their families will always know that they gave their lives for a cause far greater than themselves.

And so, we honor their sacrifice by remembering them, by telling their stories, and by ensuring that the legacy they left behind is never forgotten.

These four soldiers—Captain Cody A. Khork, Sergeant 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, Sergeant 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, and Sergeant Declan J. Coady—will forever be etched in the hearts of their families, their communities, and their country. Their service was not in vain, and their courage will never be forgotten.

May their families find peace, knowing that the bravery and selflessness of their loved ones continue to inspire us all.
